Hi
Could anyone tell me the advantage of going through the EBL rather that direct to the batteries, Peter Hambilton re-fitted ours after a totally disastrous experience with a firm who made a total mess of it. I asked if should be done through the EBL but he said it was better straight to the batteries.

With most EBL's you can

Charge both Leisure and Chassis Batteries
Each battery is charged accordingly

With Digital Control panels DBT 200 for example, you can display the Solar Current charge to each battery.

I recently sorted ours out after Some Solar company in Spain had made a mess for the previous owner.

Ditched the out-of-the arc Solar Boost 2000 e and fitted a LR1218

Much better and neater.

Cheers Teemyob

So what do you actually have to do to go through EBL? Is it expensive to sort out?

No not expensive.

You need a Shaudt LR1218 for around £55-70.

Dead simple.

I think you are limited to 180 watts of solar

Two wires in from Panels, plugs into leads and on to Electroblock

If you have an EBL99 you can connect any solar regulator to the Elektroblock, so that it shows the current through the Ammeter, it doesn't have to be Schaudt's own regularor.

Don't know if that would also be the case for more modern Elektroblocks.
