You may already have heard of this polish Star brite Heavy Duty Wax, I had'nt, it is specially prepared for use on fibreglass boats so is safe for use on GRP. It is quite costly £16.99 for 946ml but it goes a long way. It works very very well, even to take out fairly deep scratching, contains no silicone or ammonia and it has turned my fibreglass panels to new condition. It can also be used painted surfaces, metal and acrylic so is good all round.
I used it due to reading the posts about the effect of silicone on GRP and after discussing this with a friend who works at a boat repairers and chandlers, where he valets boats he recommended this
The biggest advantage is you do not have to use a cleaner prior to polishing, it is a one stage cleaner and polish.
The only drawback I found is the strong odur that seems to get right into you and you seem to be able to smell it for days.
