Hi there,
I am looking for a basic program for my laptop to keep a record of the balance on my accounts when I am away, I had one on my PC, but can't download it onto my laptop.
Can anyone suggest where I can download or purchase one? I only want something basic, not too complicated
I use Moneydance on both laptop and mac. It works well for me and I transfer the backups from one machine to the other as necessary. Not sure of cost but I downloaded it and works on both PC & Mac.

I've been using Quicken as a simple analysed cashbook for farm accounting since its DOS inception and currently use the Quicken 2000 version. Quicken is no longer sold or supported in the UK, and my version is incompatible with Vista so I'm stuck with Windows XP (no bad thing some might say)
Basically all I want to be able to do is produce transaction reports and quarterly VAT returns and do a regular bank reconciliation. I not interested in any form of double entry accounting, so no Sage for me please.
Has anyone used Money Dance in this way as a simple business accounting system? I'm concerned that one day my Quicken will become outdated and non-functional, and would like to know that there is a reliable and equally functional alternative.
I was going to say bank rec and reports ok but not vat report but I have just checked the help index and it looks possible probably best to download a trial version or email them.

On brilliant feature of Moneydance is you can interact with your on line balances and other bank services whilst in Moneydance.

Whats wrong with a spreadsheet?
Derek
I agree, I've been doing my own for many years and have found it much faster, simpler and producing more meaningfull results using Excel. The beauty of doing your own spreadsheets is that you can always make improvements.
Personally, I have gained a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction from learning how to build my own spreadsheets. but it's not eveyones idea of fun and many people would sooner buy a package off the shelf.
