We all know that Shane thinks very highly of Maxview products: not surprisingly as he sells them for a living. I too think that Maxview's satellite products are excellent. However, as a forum such as this one is generally used to share information - often with people who are actively seeking unbiased advice from others with more experience - I think it's necessary for me to provide some additional facts.

So: the Camos crank-up is a comparatively new system but has been extensively tested by Camos, by RoadPro and by our customers. As with Camos' sat-dome, it comes with a three-year warranty and RoadPro has a reputation for excellent customer support (so I'm told).

It's easy to install and simple to use and has some distinct advantages over other similar systems. These advantages include low weight, small area needed for operation and high resistance to wind and vehicle movement.

We have not had a single user say anything other than that they think their Camos crank-up is fantastic - as you can see if you look at the reviews on the website of a certain Camos supplier.

As with all satellite systems, (and most other things in life) what's best for someone else may not be best for you. With the Maxview and Camos systems for example, the Maxview might be best if you are planning to spend some time in Barcelona as it has a bigger dish - although, once you get much beyond Barcelona, a Maxview system will receive no more channels than a Camos crank-up. On the other hand, if you don't have much space available on your roof or are concerned about weight, the Camos might be more practical.

The Globe sat is also very good as long as you can accommodate the pole in a wardrobe. It's light, easy to use and has very good performance as it is a "cassegraine" dish which gives it roughly the performance of an 80cm offset dish. Its disadvantage (apart from the pole) is that it's quite high (28cm) off the roof when parked.

As usual, it's horses for courses and when considering spending some serious money, it's always good to be able to see all the runners - not just the favourite.

If Jerry would like to see a Camos crank-up in action, he's welcome to visit us in Daventry and actually use one. As Mark says, he has fitted several and covers Northamptonshire.

A good balanced thread for once!

Every system has pro's and con's. Ultimately it comes down to the customers research and choice.

Hopefully the thread has helped.

Andy, hi, hope your ok!
