In the next few days we will be heading towards Honfleur, we are okay for a stop off point in Bayeux. We would like to visit the Normandy landing beaches as well as Arromanches and Pegasus Bridge.
Our motorhome is 7.4 metres long. Is there anywhere we can stay and get to these places?
We have pushbikes but want to know if there is a bus service we could use?
If not we will have to come back after we have purchased our moped (Piaggio Fly 125cc anyone got one?)

Looking at Mays edition of MMM here and lots of info about the same, no mention of places to stay though.
We were over there last year and stayed at an Aire next to the Arromanches museum, a french guy appeared early in the morning selling wines and cheeses.

I feel for you being crammed in at Carnac, this nearly happened to us recently. We legged it back to Combrit where we had spent a very good night earlier. If you haven't tried Combrit I can recommend it - very quiet aire and a boulangerie that we think is the best in France (many others I'm sure will disagree!)
To visit Bayeux I would recommend the aire at Arromanches. It only has about 10 spaces but the French also park in the adjoining car park and nobody seems to mind. It's only a short drive to Bayeux. There is a huge car park in Bayeux with a borne, which is good for daytime parking to visit the museum. We didn't stay overnight, although it is possible, because of les jeunes and their fartblasters. PM me if you want Co-ords etc

There's bags of space for parking at Pegasus bridge - they have coaches going there all the time. You can stay at the aire in Ouistreham right by Brittany Ferries and the beach and bike down the tow path of the canal to the bridge - not far and very easy pleasant cycle ride.
There is a campsite on the outskirts (Les Pommiers?) of Ouistreham - never stayed there. And a posh site Les Coutures? on the canal bank even closer.
Aire is good - does get busy earlier but there is lots of parking in Ouistreham and lots to see. Would recomend the aire!
Aire in Arromanches is often packed - you can stay up on the hill top above the town. Campsite is good if you can get in - fine out of season, but forget it in July and August. Bits of Arromanches are no go for camping cars.
Campsite in Bayeux is brilliant if it's open when you go - on ring road and 10 mins walk from centre.

Oh, sorry forgot about the Pegasus Bridge question. The aire at Colleville-Montgomery is quite good. There is a small charge and the hedged pitches can be quite tight to reverse into. If full or too crowded you can park at the sports stadium round the corner though the charge still applies. It is only a short drive to the Bridge

As mentioned above Les Pommiers at Ouistreham is fine and an easy cycle ride along the canal beside the campsite to Pegasus Bridge or Caen.
Ouistreham is an interesting place in it's own right with fish market daily close to the site, a couple of interesting museums, a huge, very clean beach and some good restaurants. The church and tythe barn beside it are worth a look.
An ideal place to stay is the municipal camp site at Bayeaux. It is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Normandy Museum and war cemetry. and the Tapestry museum. It is then about 45 minutes drive to Pegasus bridge where there is plenty of space for the van.
The site is easy to find and you can get a multi use ticket for the D Day stuff. You can get buses to the D Day beaches from nearby. The city of Bayeaux is an interesting place too with street market and pleasant bars and cafes.
Pegasus bridge is very interesting and will take you a couple of hours alone to see everything. The cemetries and Normandy Museums are very thought provoking and I got quite emotional. It brings it home to you just how horrific it all was, but it also gives you the true meaning of a much over hypes word "Bravery". It certainly doesn't mean anything done by footballers or sportsmen that's for sure!
the campsite les coutours is vey good but a bit expensive and you can cycle to the bridge in 2 mins. les pommiers is a bit further but the back of the site is along the canal path with no fence and local scallies often go into the site and help themselves to cycles etc.there is a bus service outside of the coutours site into ouistreham which is regular and cheap.
the aire in ouistreham seemed permanantly full when we were there a couple of years ago in august. loads of parking at the bridge
