Hello,
A friend on a boat says he can get up to 2 miles access to Wi-Fi using a thing he calls 'Wave' Wi-Fi antenna.

I have bought a cheaper and obviously less effective USB antenna for £59 which might get me 300 to 500 yds. or even half mile line of sight but 2 miles no way.

Does anyone have knowledge or experience of 'Wave' Wi-Fi ???

Ray.

Yes Olley.
They are using one in and around the Caribbian Islands and he says it's possible to hook up on a signal 2 miles away across water.

Pippin asked: It would be interesting to know if the high power is legal in UK/€U.

I believe the EU maximum is just 0.1 watt (20db) but the chances of anyone measuring the output is minimal.
Interestingly, the record distance for a WiFi connection using the old B standard was 72 miles! Mind you, that was on Salt Lake Flats Shocked

One of the best WiFi extenders is a Pringles tube Laughing Worth a try before you buy something more expensive Wink

I would have thought the curvature of the earth would have made that distance impossible, you live and learn.
