Hi,

My father was trained as a Engineer and he told me (he was never wrong) that the people who designed spanners had put a lot of thought and science into it.
The length of the shaft allows the average person using an average amount of effort to apply roughly the correct amount of torque.
Doesn't help when dealing with Tyre Fitters but just use the tool provided when doing it yourself without the aid of lubricants or feet.
