Hi
Stupidly I have downloaded Windows Live onto my new laptop.

It doesn't easily do the one thing I wanted (resizing photos)....despite coming out at top of the Google search list "resizing photo's".

I have followed the instructions to uninstall but there still seems to be 'bits' left behind.

In Control Panel/programmes/uninstall or change a programme I can still see
Windows Live Sign in assistant
Windows Live Sync
Window live upload tool

If I click on each of these and uninstall will that get rid of it completely and why did these bits remain behind after I followed the instructions to uninstall Windows Live Essentials.

Thanks for any help.

Maura

Delete them at this point.

Many bits are left over from many programmes but apart from using the above method I wouldn't recommend much more.

HTH.

Leave the bits as often you have 'shared files' and you might delete something valuable.

I tried to delete FREESERVE like this and took out part of my Windows 98 operating system.

I find Windows Live as instrusive as the reputation AOL acquired for once you letting it on your system, it made it difficult to get rid of Sad

If you have Windows XP there is a small free Microsoft photo resizer utility. Have a look at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

You need to scroll down a little for the re-sizer. It installs in no time at all. All you have to then do it point to the file you wish resized, right click and there will be an additional option on the window menu for resizing. You choose between four options depending on what you want to do with the image.

Hope that helps

Keith

Hi Maura,

It seems that removal depends on which version of Windows Live you had and onto which operating system you installed it.

Have a look at > Microsoft's helpful offerings < and see if any of the descriptions match your case.

If you find a match but have issues with the details please post which match and somebody will surely help you.

Better still FastStone - http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm. Free, but donations are accepted (and worth it). I use it all the time as a photo organiser, and for viewing photos, although I edit in Photoshop. Brilliant piece of kit.

And I gave up on Windows.Live for photo sharing - too much hassle.

Oh err, now I don't know if I should delete the remaining bits or not....what a pain.

I have Vista and downloaded Windows Live from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/rookies/lewis5/?WT.srch=1

It took ages when it was installing - which made me suspect something dodgy was being loaded. By contrast it took hardly any time at all to uninstall....but obviously it hasn't uninstalled everything Evil or Very Mad

I thought I was doing the right thing by going with Windows rather than some of the dodgy free software that you see.....how wrong was I Sad

It's getting so that I'm afraid to do anything anymore.
