Ok I need an antenna. No sky or anything I could stay at home for, just my new portable. As long as it gives a good reception and if on a pole adjustable from the inside.

Thanks in advance.

I think this is reckoned to be the best of the most convenient aerials, Kitesurfer:-

True enthusiasts, I think, still prefer the H-section type of aerial but you'll possibly have to go outside to affix these (to the rear ladder, etc).

Barry and Sue. Thanks very much, and the antenna in the link is the one that took my fancy! I was just testing the water before taking the plunge.

Do you use one?

Hi KS,

A complete waste of money, £134 for what? Purchase the £25 version and fix it on a pole. You can purchase an aluminium 3 section 3 metre pole for £20 and by using cableties or whatever fix it on your van. It can be taken down and repositioned anytime. When you have a fixed areal in a location where the picture quality is useless you are lumbered with a fixed aerial.

Believe me I have one and in more places than not I have to use the £25 version. I also use it with a £30 12v Sagem Freeview box with excellent results.

Cheers

Drew

Drew, in winter when it's raining do you get wet and cold when you have to go outside to fit it?

See, KS, I said that some people prefer the cheaper option that you have to go outside to fit!!!

No, I have the dreaded 315 Omni-directional (fitted by AutoSleepers as standard). It only works when there's a very strong signal, but I've heard that they can be quite good with a Freeview box. I'm going to try the Freeview and see how we get on, otherwise I'll be getting the 530. It's nice to be able to pull up on site on an Autumn evening and not have to go outside for anything, not even to put down the steadies!
Blimey, if you've got to do all that nonsense, might as well have a bl**dy caravan!!! Shocked

The 530 is a great aerial it works on Freview as well, would not be without it.

hi guys

we use the status 530/5 short mast and we think its great , takes minutes to point it and tune the telly , the 12v signal booster that comes with the kit is very good . the only downside i can think of is you have to cut a hole in the roof but that dosnt bother us . i paid £100 for mine at york m/h show .

Hi Barry,

When the reception on my £134 aerial fails, which is more often than not, I use my £25 version which never fails.

I have been motorhoming now for a good number of years and have found that these super dooper aerials are not as dependable as the mobile ones.

Being able to watch "Corrie", with an excellent picture, on a cold miserable wet winter evening is well worth the few minutes it takes me to put up my aerial.

I have added fixed aerial points and can have my aerial up in minutes.

Cheers

Trouble is whilst I tend to agree with you it is something else to store away and carry and being a very akward shape are not exactly space savers. Otherwise they are excellent value for money. I gave my free standing yagi away and still stick with the flying saucer and a freeview box. I am not a tele addict and its much less trouble for what little I watch..
