I am sure this has been posted before but in case not

Please be aware that many fuel stations on the Belgian motorway network will ONLY accept Belgian bank cards !! (or of course good old cash)

So if you are planning on transiting through Belgium make sure (if you are going to need fuel, which makes sense 'cos it cheap buit not as cheap as Luxembourg) you have euro's. I did find a few that take "other" i.e English cards but they were few and far between !!!

I've never had a problem and I've even used my card in automatic pumps in Belgium.
Confused

Same here. Very Happy

The fuel is quite a lot cheaper at the auto stations.

"Euroshop" just south of Roeselare - 100% automatic, no staff whatsoever and about 0.10€ cheaper than anywhere else.

An amazing shop as well - if they don't sell it you couldn't possibly want it.

My card worked fine last month in Belgium at the pumps. However the Italian next to me had to go into the shop and pay cash.

We have always used the Q8 filling station at Veurne to fill up with diesel on the outward journey and homeward journey back to the ferry because it was 0.10euro cheaper than the motorway. But next time out we'll be using the Truckstop in Veurne to fill up. Noticed Loads of Polish Truckers filling up there and the price was only 0.97euro per litre. (04 Sep 09).

Never had any problems paying for fuel in Belguim. Cash is King.

Tried to use an auto station at Venlo as it was a very good price and couldnt as they wouldn't take any UK cards. The fuel station is 100% automatic. It is adjacent to the Aire. There is a manned fuel station just up the road though.
