In the past I've always had my fridge serviced yearly or so because of the soot/debris that could build up after prolonged use on gas. Bearing in mind our van gets used more than most and in very dusty/sandy areas at times.
In the first year the van was used for 240 nights mostly the fridge was on gas. My fridge has to be taken out to be checked it cannot be done in situ, as I'm unable to do this myself I have to get some one in. I rang my local Dometic service centre who stated they don't do servicing only repairs. The fridge works OK I just want it checked over.
So do members have their fridge serviced or not? if you do how often?
Regards

Origionally advice an any gas appliance was to have a service carried out annually this was more precautionary than always neccessary but there was no other way to ensure the appliance was burning correctly. However due to advances in technology it is now possible to use a peice of equipment that analyses the products of combustion that issue from the flue and from this determine whether a service is required or if it is ok for a further period of time, the equipment will tell you how long even.
The advantage of this is that it was found that after a service some appliances broke down that maybe would not have done had they not been taken appart, known as nuisance call back, and that servicing times could be reduced.
So if you use a competant gas operative he should be able to determine whether it needs cleaning without taking it appart. |
