Hi Wighter

Yes our van has lost of rust around the vents as well. In fact we are just getting ready to deal with it. We took advice from a bodyshop expert who advised against welding due to the windsreen and too, braising.
So what we have come up with is this.

1) Paint the area with rust stop solution.
2) Use a circular wire brush on a drill to remove most of the
accesable rust.
3) Use small grinding stones to help rust removal in tight areas.
4) Apply ruststop again and alow to dry.
5) Re sand
6) Use epoxy ( glass fibre epoxy) over area
7) Use glass fibre tape ( from boat yard) and epoxy whole area inside
Cool Glass fibre rust holes
9) Allow to dry and rough sand
10) Fill with fine epoxy filler ( motor diy shop )
11) Allow to dry and sand smooth
12) Paint

We intend, once we have cleaned the whole fiddly area, to glass the whole vent system to stop the rust returning and to seal the area for good.

These vans are famed for bad rust around and inside these vents and there is little else you can do with it according to my research.

Of course if anyone else here knows different please let us all know asap.

Kind regards

Antonia <---------- Mrs

Greetings fellow 207D owners

I have just found a panel supplier offering delivery and good prices.

http://www.clevelandpanels.com/mercedes/mercedes-l207-307-208-308-410-77-96.html?p=3

They are unpainted however.

Hope this helps someone.

Also, we did indeed repair around the window vents in the manner I described last year.

I shall try and up load some pictures.

Regards

Antonia
