Similar issue with my panel van ducato 07. Sometimes the fuse pops controlling the central locking which then means it won't lock at all. Which is crazy on a panel van
I now keep a screwdriver and a bag of fuses ready for the next occurrence. Fiat failed to find the problem but happily told me they had fixed it when I had new locks fitted. Not impressed at all with Fiat and I vow never to buy another.
With these weird electrical issues it is sometimes worth disconnecting the battery for half an hour, then connecting up again. The ECU will then do a full system check as it thinks it is being fired up for the first time. Sometimes this will sort things out but not every time. Main thing is it cost nothing to try it.
Make sure you have your radio code if needed before disconnecting the battery, also have your alarm fob handy in case it gets triggered with battery disconnect.
Continuing from my earlier post re' cab electrics going mad!
Rob Leafe of Automate came today to confirm if body ECU faulty.
With centre-locking clicking on/off every few minutes, wipers and lights on when switched off, it didn't look promising.
With most of the dash stripped out he could find no cause, except then the wipers and lights went off, but the fuel guage fell to zero!
Not quite sure what he then did, but I think he touched the cab positive and negative together (with battery disconnected) in an attempt to re-boot the body ECU.
A RESULT!!
All now working normally but no obvious reason for the fault.
Many thanks to Automate for prompt expert service once again at a very reasonable cost.
Thanks also to those members who made useful suggestions.
