Hello,

We have a lot of 8mm Video tapes going back to 1989.

I wanted to put them onto DVD for our Daughters for Christmas.

However, our Cannon Camcorder has died on us.

Anyone know of a converter available?

Trev

Most camera shops will do the transfer for you (or know someone who can!)

Hi I am in exactly the same situation. I have decided to by a 8mm to VHS converter which are round about £30 and then use a VHS player with a SCART output straight into my lap top

I'll let you know how I get on if you like?

Eddie

I don't think you can get a 8mm to VHS convertor (wrong format) The convertor I have, which I think you are considering, is the compact VHS to full VHS. Can I suggest a cheap 8mm player off fleabay Shocked Shocked

Hi Trev

I have a Canon 8mm camcorder, if you wish to borrow and return it you are welcome. I live right in the middle of Cheshire so you can't be too far away.

I did this recently with camcorder. Bought it of Ebay for £65, when I had finished the tapes put it back on Ebay and got £60 for it. You will also need a converter to get tapes from camcorder to computor via usb port, again plenty on Ebay. In fact I still have mine £20 to you if you want it with all leads and CD. I did a long search to see if there was a direct converter but it would seem there is nothing. I also tried sending one tape away to have it done but far to expensive, if you have a few, and results not as good as those I achieved doing it the hard way.

:DCiao tutti,
so am I understanding correctly; that with an adaptor I can take casettes
off my camcorder directly onto my PC ? To then download onto a CD for example.
The films are take with a Panasonic VHS - C Movie Camera, model NVRX5B.

Grateful for any helpful replies. I'm a complete technophobe.

Just wondering , have you also got a Panosonic dvd recorder?. We have and its got so many connections that you can go straight to your tv for viewing tapes as well as transfering them to a dvd and from there to your pc.
