Hi

The two pics sum up proceedings on the Eastern Channel yesterday. Hope your tummies don't go...

Russell

Thanks to Paul Wells @ www.doverferryphotos.co.uk & www.doverpast.co.uk for the use of these.

Does anyone else have any rough sea photos worthy of a mention?

I am quite cross with myself though. I was going to travel to Ramsgate on Friday night and sail on one of the first Euroferries crossing to Boulogne on the catamaran - that would have been fabulous in those conditions - had it run. Sadly though, the start up of the new service is delayed. Still, it would have been a good weekend to pop across to Calais and Ostend for a nice meal in the on board restaurant and simply to listen to the bottles clattering in the cross channel shop.

Russell

T'was fascinating watching the AIS radar of the channel yesterday - 6 ferries were 'stuck' outside Dover harbour because it was closed.... All 6 spent up to 7 hours bobbing around waiting!!!

The Pride of Canterbury even took a small excursion north along the coast toward Ramsgate just to kill time...

Anyone on here was stuck on these ferries?

Carl,

Not this time, but I had a similar experience as a teenager some 30 odd years ago - late evening cross channel ferry as a foot passenger having spent an enjoyable 3 weeks hitch hiking round France on my own with a small tent.

The ferry seemed quite small by comparison to the ships of today - and boy did it roll about. Passengers weren't allowed outside for most of the time - and almost everyone seemed to be ill - the stench was awful. We didn't finally dock until the following morning.

Awful experience at the end of an otherwise great adventure.

Quite like using the Tunnel now!

Regards,
John

Is this rough enough for you?

It's the MS Caribou a ferry that runs between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland a friend of mine uses it several times a year but never when it's like that.

Hi Mavis. Thanks for that, very interesting. That is the disabled bay where we park overnight waiting for the early ferry.
Cheers Sid

when the weather is a bit 'lumpy' shipping prefers to be away from the confines of a harbour in open water. Not much consolation for some passengers though!!
In fact this weekend the Dover port harbourmaster instructed the non-aware vessels to move into the channel.

Yes that is marine Parade and so well worth keeping in the Favourites to see how many are there .
I wish it moved around a bit I will have to go down there and climb the post and turn it so we can see all of Marine Parade Wink
