Several members have the Humax PVR-9300T and are having some difficulties with it. This is the latest information from Humax:
Hi Gerry,

Below is the response we are giving out on this issue:

Primarily this is associated with National Retune and Digital Switchovers that have taken place over the past 2 months. Following these we’ve had a small number of customers report issues with the product freezing, and it appears that this mainly happens when on BBC channels. We believe that there have been some broadcast changes but as yet we have not been able to identify/confirm this with the broadcasters themselves.

As such we have had senior engineers from HQ developing new software that has been tested over the past 2-3 weeks. This new software is not experiencing the issues and we plan to release this on our website in the next week. An Over Air Download will be broadcast within the next 2-4 weeks, and I will confirm the date for these imminently (we have to book slots for this and await confirmation). To ensure that the over air download reaches each box successfully, we would recommend that customers switch the product into Standby when not wanting to view TV.

I believe that these issues are in small numbers and owed to the BBC change in broadcasting mentioned above. Never the less we take this very seriously and would assure all customers that the solution has been found, we apologise for any inconvenience of course.

I hope that this gives you and customers re assurance, please let me know if you have any further questions and I will be happy to advise.

I shall post any further news.

Gerry

Thanks Gerry.

I haven't got one yet, but am thinking more and more that I might, so any info is welcomed.

Does this info also apply to the Humax 9200? Ours has started reacting very slowly sometimes to keypresses on the remote, only since the Freeview upgrades. I will watch out for any on-air updates.

cheers,
Les

It also applies to the older Humax PVR-9200T

My unit is one of the first units shipped in the UK and Humax have done a great job of keeping it up-to-date with over-the-air updates.

Mine has been having this problem, and I noticed in since we returned from our trip to France - and was going to contact you Gerry, so thanks for that update.

One query, if I put it into stand-by mode, will it still start and record any programmes I have set to record, just in case I am not in, or busy doing something else....

Many thanks

Carol

Rocles,
This update will be for the PVR-9300T, but if the 9200 also suffers then there is likely to be an update for that.
The two models use incompatible software therefore there will be different upgrades.

Carol,
Standby is the state that you would normally leave it in when you hit the power button on the remote control. It will always record timer events from standby.

Thanks Gerry, I have replied to your PM.

I look forward to the promised download.

In my reply I mentioned that I have noticed a problem since retune with the EPG not populating fully; I'll repeat that part of the PM here for other people to see in case anyone else has encountered this:

"One other thing I've noticed since retune is that the EPG doesn't populate say 5 or 6 days ahead for several (non BBC) channels including Channel 4 and 5, no matter how long you wait. It populates OK for the earlier days on all channels and for the later days on the BBC channels. I have checked after several hours and the unpopulated channels / days remain in that state. Are you aware of any EPG population problem since retune? I suspect that the channels will populate in the EPG when the date gets closer though I don't know that as I only noticed the problem in the last couple of days. It's annoying if you're trying to set up a week's recordings. "

Anyone else getting this?

Roger

Roger,
As the EPG is owned and transmitted by the BBC on the BBC MUX it is highly likely that this is part of the same problem.

Quick update on my 9300T for anyone interested. BTW any posts relating to that will now be on this thread rather than the general retune thread.

All recordings scheduled via the EPG have still succeeded with no crashes. However a crash / reboot did occur yesterday evening while viewing - the unit recovered and rebooted itself though without intervention with the "loader bar" creeping across so less than a minute's interruption in viewing.

But the "EPG not populating" problem has got worse to the point of making scheduled recording very difficult indeed as the EPG last time I tried had, after 30 minutes, no data at all beyond 3 days and limited data for 2 days, essentially populating just the BBC channels and nothing else.

This would not be useable other than for a short term so I hope the promised Humax software update does fix both problems (crashes and the EPG), even if, as Humax claims, this is all the fault of the BBC!

Roger
