Just got back from our autumn trip and have problems with our digi box.

Have had a quick look at some of the topics and there has obviously been some changes made while we were away.

We lost channels 4 & 5 - did a channel scan and no luck. Did a new install and now have lost ITV1 as well.

Help please!

Thanks but in the menu there does not appear to be a factory default-can only do a new installation which I tried but it made no difference.

When you do a re-scan or new install, does it ask you "replace channels" or add ?

You should choose "Replace"

Hope this helps

Carry out a new installation and accept the message that says that all previous channels will be lost.
If it fails, post the make and model and we shall try to help.
There was a national Freeview Retune on 30th September. If you missed it, that is te cause of your problems. You show as being based in Kent. There have been no reported problems in that area following the retune.

Thanks to all for trying - did a new install but still no 3,4 or 5. List goes from BBC2 straight to BBC3 on channel 7.

List shows Kent channels and have plenty of the usual junk channels.

GerryD - Its a Techwood Digital TV Recorder sold by Tesco. No on front which I presume is the model is AEDTR80S7.

Thnks again

Brandywine,
Although the model number doesn't match it is likely to be oe of the models affected by changes in the transmission standards. Although these changes came into being in August 2008, many receivers have not shown an ill effects until the national retune in September this year. Details are here:
http://help.digitaluk.co.uk/display/4/kb/article.aspx?aid=6911 &n=1&docid=116248&tab=search
If it is one of these units, even though the information suggests that these models will be cured by way of an over air download, it is unlikely to happen. These units are mde by Vestel in Turkey and to date Vestel have never updated anything other than their basic set top box. There is no reason to believe that this will change.
Your best bet is to return the PVR to Tesco for refund or exchange into another unit on the grounds of not fit for purpose.

Thanks again to all, as a last resort I switched off everything at the mains and did a restart and new install and as luck had it, it installed all the channels.
