Thanks for your comments so far seems motorhomers are Panasonic people Smile

I had been on dpreview Ted but not all my choices are reviewed yet.

Have now looked at the LX3 Dave but the high optical zoom is a feature that I want my existing Sony F717 has x5 and we could have done with more.

The G1 Dave - Zeb has many features shared with the ones I had shortlisted but its too expensive for me.

Thanks a bunch Chris now I've got 4/3 and a new camera to consider Sad Smile

Sorry Chris too expensive - a whole month's pension - and I like to have view finder and moveable lcd screen especially when out of doors in Summer.

Hi Frank

read up on the Olympus E420, E520 & E620. They get great reviews Very Happy

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0803/08030501olympuse420.asp

I've got the 520 and I'm very pleased with it.

They are 4/3rds and don't take up a lot of room Very Happy

I've just bought a Canon S90 and that's also a cracking bit of kit Very Happy

I have this camera from Fuji which has now been superceeded - it is a great camera - light, easy to use and has a viewfinder - the later models are more sophisticated - very good output>>S5700<<
But, I have to say that my latest purchase is the Samsung ST550 is a cracking piece of kit (it's the one with the two screens) and 5x optical.
The best optical zoom is the latest Lumix with 12x optical. I just wish they would make just one camera with everything then I would save alot of money Shocked Shocked

Hi Frank,
Yet another Lumix fan here. We have used the DMC-FZ18 for a couple of years and recently decided to buy a compact for pocket use. I thought that it would be a good idea to get one of the Lumix compacts so that the menus and symbols would be the same so keeping learning to a minimum!
We bought the FX-550 which has a 3" touch screen and the usual great Leica wide angle lens and it seems to produce excellent results.

Hi Frank

Being a photo numpty I want all the twiddly bits but in single syllables, if you know what I mean.

I have a Fuji Finepix S8100fd bridge camera which more than fills my happy snapper needs. Best of all it has an impressive 18x zoom which has had some excellent reviews.

It uses AA batteries, I use rechargables, that seem to last for 100's of pics.

Has all the scene modes you want and is easy-peasy to use. Which means you don't have to worry about the technical side at all just concentrate on framing the pic and snap!

I downsized from a Digital Canon SLR with 4 lens to a Canon Powershot G10 and I must say I am thrilled with it, and it fits into my pocket

Hi Frank
I won't attempt to advise you on which camera to buy, other than to say have you considered one that geotags? They cost a bit more, but with the latest Mac iPhoto program, I think it could be worthwhile.
