I personally would not choose an Iveco, they are hard to work on and unsympathetically assembled for people to work on. The euro cargo is about the only 7.5 tonner still on air over hyraulic brakes. The rear brake callipers can leak at the handbrake swivel and brake wear is not very durable. Spring shackle bushes wear regularly and the front ones require the fuel tank and air filter assembly removing to replace them. Battery boxes rot out and chassis suffer from surface corrosion because they are not painted after vehicle assembly. Rear cab mounting blocks delaminate and collapse and the cab wears through the wings. The engine is not bad and is a Cummins engine (American) and is also fitted in DAF LF's. Not many problems as long as alternator belt is regularly replaced otherwise it rips the power steering pipes off when it shreds. We have some 4 year old Dafs with the 170 engine in on 600,000+ miles still ok. Minor oil leaks and one needed new engine ecu (£1500) but once again if mountings are changed they are ok.
I would look carefully before parting with cash and remember if the truck you are looking at has no body fitted it's worthless to most operators so the price will reflect this. Hope this helps

Thanks to Vennwood
I did not say it had not been serviced, just that the seller/dealer has no service history for it. in his words it did not come with it and I thought if anyone would have it it would be him.

Thanks to CliveMott
Its not cheep, its just on the money. its not cheep enough to bite but not dear enough to run but it looks in very good nick.
I been askin after loads of trucks and most come with no history. Seems like a commercial trate.
I am not exactly prepared to stump up for anything. I know a guy who dropped a liner in a 50.000 mile freelander at 70 on the motorway.
Not much sympathy cus loads of people with experience told him they were crap before he bought it.
Now if it was a run forever toyota like mine I would have considered him hard done by.
Lookin for people with actual experience of eurocargos

Thanks to Jezport
Yea but my question is, is that high mileage for this type of truck, is it?

Thanks to b16duv
Good Advice
Must ask who was runnin it & what their business was. Might even help with the service record, didn't think of that.
Looked at several DHL, TNT & Post office trucks. Every one I have asked about had no history. My bad luck.

Thanks to bigaggie
Excellent, "380go is nothing i have owned cargos with 500go+ "Thats what I like to hear or the opposite from someone that actually runs them. Its not that I don't appreciate the others advice but if you never had one.
Will ring my local iveco dealer, if it has been 6 weekly inspected and got whatever it needed then its lookin a lot better.
See I did not know that.
WVM only puts oil in when the red light comes on

Thanks to poleman
More excelent advice
Ref: We have some 4 year old Dafs with the 170 engine in on 600,000+ miles still ok see thats what i mean..so 380 ain't that bad for a lorry. The engine should out last the availability of diesel fuel
And you know year stuff.....
So like how soon do all them other things start showin up cus if I got 600,000 before the cab fell off I would be well pleased.
The next 200,000 might be relatively gentle
It has a box and this is what I want to house the habition part on/in.
Wot you think is the daf a better build than the eurocargo Question Question
Thanks a lot

What you should note is that Iveco's are slightly more 'fragile' than some other makes. Engine gearbox and rear axle are fine, things like cab mountings and spring bushes can need changing every other year or so. You will find cab plastics are not durable but if you are careful they will last for years. If you choose a good tidy well maintained vehicle it will probably be ok for your requirements. As for your question for maintenance records the vosa inspections mentioned depend on the annual mileage and type of work the vehicles been on, periods range from 5 weeks to 12. These are checks for roadworthy condition, not servicing but a condition of the operators licence requires a service interval to be set. typically these iveco's are on 40,000 km oil changes. Smile

Thasnks to poleman
Thats fantastic help
1 get the reg and ask my local iveco dealer
2 Find out who owned it and google for their buisness
3 ask dealer to verify all them niggly bits are in good condition
4 check then before purchase
I hope that the iveco may not be as fragile as a camper as it would earning its keep. Hopefully every other year to a haullier may be at lot longer for me.
Theres many a car that dont get 40,000 km oil changes
Thanka s lot, its opened my eyes a lot more. Cus they were tight shut
O & merry christmas
