Being in a wheelchair means i can only drive an Automatic and i am not working at the momment so money is tight but my father had a camper when i was young and i loved it so now being older i fancy one myself but only problem i have came across is i cant find a good automatic at a half decent price ? i have thought about buying an American RV but i am worried about high insurance and finding parts etc for it ? can anyone point me in the right direction i always like the look of the VW type 2 vans only problem is auto ones of these are like hens teeth very rare i also like the C class vans as they have a toliet etc ?

Both Ford and Sevel (Fiat/Citroen/Peogot) have supplied Auto chassis cabs to motorhome converters/builders but they do tend to be quite rare. I'm afraid it's just a case of checking the magazines.
American R.V's are virtually exclusively auto and 'left hookers' though I have seen the odd 'right hooker'. God knows what that cost to convert ! ?

The left hand drive thing wouldnt bother me that much i could live with it ? only problem is the american ones only get about 12 miles per gallon of petrol ? and theres some done with LPG but i plan to do a lot of touring the north of scotland and finding a petrol station there is hard enough without having to try to find one with LPG ?

Hi larkz

If you get a copy of MMM they have a section with all MH's listed and engine sizes manual/automatic listed beds etc

You can use this to sort out those that may be suitable

You could then look in the classified section

I do think that there are tax reliefs for wheelchair uses so look these things up (MMM have done articles on this)

Will look out for you on the road
all the best
