Photoshopped photos were permitted, but I have to say I enjoyed the fact that they seemed more conspicuous by their absence this year. Or perhaps people have just got better at it!
Well done to the winner, an awesome photo and well deserved winner. Congrats to the runners up and also to all the other entrants and thanks to the other judges all who volunteed after a thread earlier last year that Dabs must have missed

DAB's miss a post!! I think that must be impossible - he seems to point me in the direction of posts I should read..... maybe he was busy at work or on holiday.
Well done to the winners, good pictures, but I must admit and agree with Dave that the winner was so easy to see from very early on - which may have put people off - or they were all too busy over Xmas or even stuck in the snow somewhere...

Sorry for the delay in replying, but thanks everyone.
Firstly; a quick thankyou to 'carolgavin' for bringing my attention to this.
Secondly; cheers to all who voted and everyone who entered.
Thirdly; apologies for the delay in replying.
The photo was taken from the North East tip of Saint-Pierre La Mer in France - you should see the camperstop above a campsite on Google Maps/Earth
After reading the thread up to this point it seems there was some disagreement over how the comp was run or perhaps the rules originally set - i'm not really sure of the details, nor is it my business.
However it's worth noting that a photo competition such as this does encourage people to show off what they believe to be their favourite pictures and for that i've really enjoyed looking at the entries and learning from what others are doing with their 'van, camera, or otherwise. So whoever had the idea or carried it through; cheers for doing it.
We use Google's Picasa to sort our photos (not photoshop as i find it overcomplicated for holiday snaps), it's also handy to do simple things like cropping and B&W. This particular photo has probably had the colour saturation boosted very slightly - for some unknown reason we do this for all our blog pics as it makes them look a bit glossy!
We're currently very far from home & don't get online very often so please don't be offended if i don't reply to this thread for a few days at least!
Thanks again.
Best Regards,
Paul

For the nerds:
Nikon D90 with 18-105lens (on a tripod!)
Currently in Australia so don't have the original RAW file to list the metadata - sorry!

Sorry if I appear rude for not having done this sooner; I'd been patiently (OK, quite patiently) waiting for the results to be announced!
I guess, as the original thread was closed there was no email advising of an update, so somehow I missed this new thread (can't read them all, I guess!)
So:
Firstly, I'd like to say how much of a privilege it is to have had 3 photos picked to be in the top ten.
Next, I have to admit that, when monkeyboypaul posted his winning picture; my competitive heart sank! -an atmospheric and striking picture indeed: well-deserved congratulations are due!
By way of explanation for Briarose:
This was taken high up (obviously) on the coast road around the Agamas Peninsular of NW Cyprus; the view (that I was looking at) is of the UN green zone, and the Turkish occupied territory, so what the sign refers to is not actually what we photographed.
That's my wife in the wing mirror, behind the camera; she was refugeed (if that's a word?) as a new-born baby, from the North in '74 when the Turks invaded; having been born in one of those missile-torn Hotels you can still see in the no-man's-land at Famagusta.
My thanks to Stew and the judges, for organising this.
Also thanks to Sue (Sonesta), Steve (Chigman), and Dave (DTPchem); there were so many moments like that on our 3 month trip last summer, fond memories indeed, which I hope he'll remember too!
Finally I'd like to thank; my legs for their support, my Mom, Dad, thousands of people who know who they are, I'd like to thank Jesus, for making every day special........
