I bought a 1991 Hymer about 5 years ago on my first trip up to Scotland via M6
pulled into a service station for a couple of hours break fridge would not ignite
i rang Hymer at preston about 3pm they told me to call in straight away i was about 30 mins drive when i arrived they directed me my wife and the dog to a hospitality room coffee on tap tv newspapers drink for the dog within the hour fridge was fixed they cleaned the jet in the burner but advised me to have a new burner but did not have one in stock i paid for the burner which was waiting for me when i got home the rest of the work free of charge customer care i was told anything else i required i would take a photo of the object and email it too the spares with my request very helpfull.

Hi

Traded in our 05 Hymer C Class 524 van for a 04 Starblazer at Brownhills (Newark), seem very nice tea on tap and even swopped gas bottles over for us and my MP3 player. Got home and as you do start cleaning the inside of the van. As it was windy closed the habitation door and low and behold could not get out.

Rang Newark up, they suggested ringing Preston, who have arranged for us to take the van in this Friday and see if it can be fixed or if new parts need ordering. Overall not a bad service.

Would recomend a look round Brownhills (Newark ) as it makes Preston look ver small in comparison.

Brilliant Web Site. Bought our Hymer 3mts ago from Preston and have been really pleased with it, no more making up beds. Waiting on prommised silver screens and replacement screws for rear bumper, which they prommised to post to us and havent arrived. Have now booked in to collect screens/screws on 17th Sept will let you know how I go on.

Need advice our wind out awning think it is a Fiamma 45, the plates which are usually fixed on the side of the MV to secure the legs have not been fitted as the rear would be on the garage door, and the front one just passed the hinged side of the entry door. Dont really want to use it without it being secure any tips please.

Lots of vans never have the side mounts fitted, either because the fitter did not bother or as in your case they would be difficult to fit.......so what to do....just put the legs on the ground and use pegs through the feet of the legs and for extra security use a tie down kit.

you can get them at

If you fancy a bit of DIY , and can work out a way to fit them, then the side brackets are available there too.

Mike

Many thanks Mike for your prompt reply, didnt know they made such a kit, sounds a lot better than putting the catches on the side of the MV in the places they would need to be.
Many thanks ,

Just remember that a triangle (which the awning forms when the legs are attached to the side of the van) is a lot stronger than a square (which the awning forms when the legs are on the ground). Keep an eye out for rising winds - legs on the ground make an inherently weaker structure than legs attached to the van - and always put a slope from side to side of the awning to let water run off.

Back in the UK. Travelled around France and Italy, sang with a French Rock Band for a year, saw the (late) Pope while visiting Rome, stayed on the aire at Cognac so often we got to know the local residents. Now working as a warden on a site in deepest Devon but heading over the Channel late October for a few gigs. Picking up new (well - new to us) van next week and all excited. That's the potted history for now. Andy.

PS - does this have anything at all to do with awnings?
