Hi Gordon

We have had the setup you have in mind for the last few months. Works very well in the UK, if Freeview unavailable the standard channels tend to work fine. The Status ariel must be the version on the raising pole though.

We have the Avtex 19" as we use it in the bedroom at home too. We carted around a £99 combo tv for a while but was a constant pain retuning the channels everywhere with totally obscure on screen menus and awfully designed remote control. The one touch auto tune is the best feature on this device.

There are so many uses for the Avtex apart from the fact it is made to be transported, shockproof. We use the digital radio, watch DVD's and use it as a PC monitor with the TV out socket on our mobile phones for free mobile internet. The FM transmitter will give us a kind of surround sound in our new van which has four speakers around the interior.

Not the cheapest of setups but good performance.

Mike

We are thinking of getting a Avtex W153D TV DVD Combo and were wondering what type of aerial would be best?

Hi Gordon,

we opted for the status 530 directional which was fitted by Johns Cross. It's good but I think we have a problem with the booster. Like this one

We used to use an image 530/18-2 and unimast.

A good aerial which we used to strap the mast to the rear ladder. I've got one and the unimast for sale if you're interested. I've also got the unibrackets.

Cheers
Alan
