Hi fellow photographers,

I was wondering what everyone is covered with insurance-wise for their gear... my gear is relatively expensive Canon 5d mk II and various lenses and all that comes with a DSLR. Is there a company who insures us motorhomers? I note there are a few but many dont cover overnight!?!?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Not sure if these are any good <<Photoguard>>. As i haven't read the terms and conditions.

We have just insured our new bikes with them (Cycleguard) and the T&Cs are pretty straight forward

Have mine covered under 'all risks' personal items on the household insurance.

Hi again,

I probably need to add we dont have household insurance cover - we are renters and we are planning a trip of 4-6 months.

Also, Thanks Doug - Im not trying to be rude or sceptical here but is this a true honest and unbiased recommendation? I note you are earning money off that link by being an affiliate.

What are you talking about???????

Please explain how i am an affiliate. I insured my bike through them last week and happened to notice they also do photography gear as well, hence the link.

the link clearly has an affiliate ID beside it - look at the link you posted. I mean hover over it. Im guessing this is an honest mistake... Im a web designer so when I see an affiliate link I feel more than a little dubious. ---> www.photoguard co uk/?affid=57984 - I REALLY don't mean to offend Im just sceptical when I see people linking to sites with an affiliate ID.

I have enough trouble using Google and this site Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I'm a little confused, and it doesn't take much. If i googled cycleguard, clicked on the link to photography. How come that affiliate ID is there?? I didn't use this laptop when i took out the insurance.

Web designer...do you work with spiders? Laughing

aahhhh I see - OK so the link you posted was from someone (not the actual insurer) posting an affiliate advert on Google that looks like a search result (often the top 3 search results on google are adverts)... in other words the link has an embedded id which when someone clicks on it gives that third party a cut of all sales made through it... I can see its an honest mistake so forget about it...

I did see these guys but Im not 100% they will cover overnighting in the motorhome ;(

I remember having a look at Photoguard some while ago. When I got to the condition that all vehicle locks must be capable of totally securing the vehicle I think I concluded that the house insurance was probably a better bet (habitation door locks/window catches?).
