I know this subject has been done to death in the past but unfortunately the sets recommended just a few months ago are no longer available. Those with the financial resources to match usually recommend the expensive "made for leisure use" tvs but the price difference is so great between those and domestic sets that, for me, there's no contest.
Can anyone recommend a 16" digital/analogue TV/DVD combo with a reasonable viewing angle under £150 that's currently in the shops? It must have a VESA mount though.
Have a look on Ebay. I bought a 19 inch combi unit ( 240 V only but I use an inverter) for about 90 quid delivered. thats a LOT cheaper than the dedicated 12V units even taking into account the cost of a cheap inverter AND I can use the TV at home as a spare !!
Be aware that some of the low cost 15.4" units have very poor viewing angles and give a rubbish picture unless viewed directly on.
Thanks. Yes, I had noticed that fact on some of the reviews. I think it's vital to see the set working before buying.
Just one further point. A previous owner has fitted a VESA bracket just over the table on my MH which I had intended to use with a 15" or 16" set. However the MH was originally designed with a TV cupboard above the fridge where one might fit a 19" set. The advantage of that is that the tv can be put away out of sight when not in use. Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject?
If its one of those modern slimline cupboards, watch the depth of the set with the TV/ DVD combo's, having a similar dilemma with a pop up mounting bracket/ cupboard set up, very thin, & not too many options.
I would think if the vast majority of the time you are hooked up to an electrical supply, then purchasing an expensive 12v tv, I don't think is that essential? It's only if you do a lot of wildcamping or attend lots of rallys/meets that don't provide EHU's, that you would really need to consider purchasing a puposely made for the motorhome/caravan/marine market 12 volt tv! 240 volt tv's used through an inverter really do drain your leisure batteries but if you use campsites most of the time, then you have no need to worry about leisure battery power! I am sure the more technical amongst us will be able to advise you more accurately than I can but I am sure you should have no problems using a standard 240 volt tv?
