I did strive for it, but it appears without forking an incredible amount of funds for licensing fees for the actual mapping data and then needing much more space to store it i.e. instead of the 512Mb keys used for icampsites USB it would be in the Gb range instead.

The way iCampsites USB works is you get the option of toggling online / offline mapping. In online mapping mode you get a flash map, click on a region / county and you get a list of matches which can be sorted. In Online mode you get the full google maps experience

Thanks. I'm surprised suitable mapping of the resolution used by camping-car.infos is so expensive and memory hungry. It seems relatively coarse yet wonderfully fit-for-purpose from a user's perspective.

Just been told the consignment with iCampsites USB on cleared late Friday.

And that they are leaving today and should be with us tomorrow.

That's excellent if it all goes to plan as we should get ours before the weekend and off to France on Monday.

As long as being Online is not essential, it will be just what we want.

So in offline mode you are getting a list of sites that you have compiled from a click on a regional map?
What sort of detail will the flash offline map be? some screen shots may be useful otherwise I cant see the advantage of a USB version over the existing iPhone/ipod app.
Confused
Incidentally a tip which I found last week using the app on an iPod (with no internet connection) was that if you have previewed an area previuosly when you are online that when you view the map again offline as long as you haven't cleared the ipod memory the maps are still available in the cache memory not perfect but still handy.

Finally after soooooo long the culmination of all our work has arrived Smile

Ben is packaging up all the back orders now so you should get them within the next day or so

Remember iCampsites USB unlike other similar products does not need to be replaced annually, it never goes out of date and is a one off purchase due to its unique Internet update system and even the core product can be updated should any bugs be identified in the future or feature enhancements added Smile

Buy now Wink

I've closed this thread at the point when the first of the new USB Key version of the MHF campsite database was being taken for posting.

The rest of the thread is currently titled 'POST Delivery' which is all I can call it as I can't alter Nuke's title. Sad

I have notified him and no doubt it will be altered to something more appropriate in due course.
