I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to my 1998 Iveco Daily 2.8TD (Laika) last year.
It turned out to be a broken wire inside the ignition barrel. The only way to repair was to have the ignition bareel changed (£120 )
This happened to me on my Fiat, it turned out to be a little solenoid thingy and the garage changed it and it has been fine ever since.. It didn't cost much for the repair and they did it while I waited..
______________________________________________________________ A man goes into a bookshop and says, ´Have you got that new book for men with really small willies?´
The assistant says, ´I don´t think it´s in yet.´
´Yes, that´s the one!´ Says the man.
We had the same problem recently with our 1992 Mecedes Hymer, my husband checked the solenoid switch and it wasn't that, it turned out to be the vacuum pipe connected to the injector pump. bambi 2
