The pump is the unit that the 4 metal fuel pipes fuel pipes come from and go to each injector on the cylinder head

I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to my 1998 Iveco Daily 2.8TD (Laika) last year.
It turned out to be a broken wire inside the ignition barrel. The only way to repair was to have the ignition bareel changed (£120 Shocked )

Quite often on the older fuel pumps there is an emergency cut off lever.
It's a lot kinder to use that to stop the engine if you can.

Hi.

This happened to me on my Fiat, it turned out to be a little solenoid thingy and the garage changed it and it has been fine ever since.. It didn't cost much for the repair and they did it while I waited..

We had the same problem recently with our 1992 Mecedes Hymer, my husband checked the solenoid switch and it wasn't that, it turned out to be the vacuum pipe connected to the injector pump. bambi 2
