Today I set about solving the issue of the creaking suspension , I traced the creak to the rear shackle chassis mounting as said on an earlier post if the mount is slightly loosened it stops.
After supporting the weight of the vehicle securely I removed the shackle and found that there is a rubber bush through the chassis with 2 nylon bushes inserted either side of this bush, then through the middle of it all is a metal tube. this tube is what the shackle bolt tightens up against. When the metal tube was removed with a bit of persuasion it was obvious this was the cause of the noise , my solution was to clean it up using a wire wheel and reasemble using grease. hopefuly this will be a permanent solution but now I know what it is if I have to do it again in a coulpe of years time it is quite a simple job.
