I started with a Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW Rucksack. This enabled me to carry the camera and lenses in a small rucksack. It is secure on the shoulder if the straps are used correctly. When I want to take a photograph, I unclip the security clip, swing the bag onto my belly (beer bellies can be useful!), remove camera and fit lens. If I know the type of lens I am likely to use, I would fit this before setting out and keep it ready in the bag.

I've since moved on to a Lowepro Slingshot 300 so I can keep all my gear in one place. Have a look at the Digital Photo website. It's packed with information (bit slow to load sometimes) from proper photographers.

When changing lenses outdoor, make sure you follow a procedure to minimise the risk of dirt in the camera. This is why good cleaning kits (including an air blower) and camera bags are useful.

Hi Gerald

Good advice so far, I always fit a UV filter to any lens for protection.
As for carrying. Well if I am going somewhere and I know I will definitely or very probably will need a few lenses and gizmos then I take everything in my Lowepro backpack.
If I am just going out for a general walk or cycle ride then I take my wife's Panasonic Lumix compact to save weight Smile Smile Smile
