Thanks a lot for all your inputs. I think the best would be the one from Reversingcamerasuk, they do a twin lens camera and 7" monitor for £189 this is much cheaper than the £550 I was quoted to have one fitted by a dealer. OK I have to fit it myself but am not totally useless (my wife might argue with that).
Hi Brian,I purchased a two camera wired system off of E-Bay from a private seller, these are about and can be a money saver and fitted it ok.Thought a lot about it first though, whether to fit wired or wireless, after reading a large number of posts went with wired, because of the interference problems. The reason for a two camera system was that I have a LHD Transit and one camera looks out of the O/S window, you'd be surprised how many times you pull up at a roundabout and have to push your head up to the windscreen to see if anything is coming.Sometimes it's not possible to see at all due to the angle.I fitted my reversing camera with a live feed from the ignition switch and is on all the time I am driving, the offside one I fed through a switch,so as I can switch between the two at anytime it is required. Good luck with which ever way you go,but for me a wired system works fine, regards,Frank.
Like rayrecock, I also have a Maplin wireless camera. I was cheap, and easy to fit. Unlike ray, I fitted the RF unit within 1 meter of the camera, nowhere near any coathangers.
I didn't need it to watch wide screen HDTV, all I wanted it for was to cover the blind spot at the back of the van when reversing. So it's not Techniclolour, and the monitor isn't a 19" wide screen. And what if I do get the occasional shot of some farmers cow shed? At least it works, and I can now see what's behind me....
