Hi
Has anyone got the MK6 Transit any model but with the concertina cab blinds, I have only seen one and the set-up of the blinds looked awful, so I am wondering if any of you people have them and could possibly take a couple of pic's for me to see I would very much appreciate it.

I, sorry, we, have a full set on our 2002 Transit, and think they're great. So easy to use compared with curtains or the stick on shade efforts. I don't find them intrusive whilst driving and would certainly get some more if I changed the van. Will try and take photo and post it here, but I warn you that my computer skills are sadly lacking. Alternatively, if you are anywhere near N.Bristol/S.Glos. area, your'e welcome to pop in anytime to have a proper look. Cheers, Mike.

I have the latest Transit (is that a Mk 6 or 7) I'm not even sure!

I have the Remis blinds and wouldn't be without them. Otherwise the choice is either internal or external 'silver screens' which are a pain to fit every evening and morning.

I also have an external silver screen by the way, for use in winter, as internal blinds offer no insulation value but the Remis are brilliant and convenient for normal use.

My motor-home is in my warehouse 15 miles away, so no pictures I'm afraid!

We have the latest Ford and have some removable concertina blinds supplied by Burstner. The front one is attached by press studs and the side windows are fixed with magnets (a fiddly job until you get the knack!) They are great in Summer for privacy and shade. The front blind does not look very pretty as it sags around the mirror but it works just fine.

We also have a set of external Silver Screens for winter.

The Mk 6 is the previous model to the current Mk7. It ran from about 2000 to 2006. For the Mk 7 Ford redesigned the front of the van, including a much better cab interior. Different engines were made available but the actual load area stayed almost identical.

For anoraks - you can tell whether you're following a MK 6 or 7 by the rear lights. Mk 6's are coloured plastic lenses and Mk 7's have clear lenses and coloured bulbs. Otherwise the rear light design/shape are identical.

http://www.horizons-unlimited.co.uk/index.html used to offer blinds as an option on their conversions, but it seems to have dropped off their list now. We really liked the curtains on our Horizon's Innovation when we had it. It added a 'softening' of the interior and hid the dashboard. We felt the white blinds on the Adria gave the van interior a cold feel and left us gazing at the acres of Mr Fiat's finest grey plastic, not inspiring after a day behind the wheel. You're also left with the problem of what to do with the cab side windows. Either more expense for additional blinds which cut down your vision quite drastically or fiddling about with plastic stick or clip ons. Curtains just pull right round and overlap and are secured by tie backs when not in use. Simples. There's no awkward clips that make the blinds hard to secure or blinds that decide to part company mid screen, at the most inopportune moments.

I agree with Andy. I have had silver screens in and out in the past
on another van.

Now I just use the curtains, no hassle ,no rattles, nothing to store.

The curtains in my van are of very good quality lined and are quite thick. I get no problems with condensation.

I see you have an Autosleeper Neil, I think they do still use curtains even now, as do the French converter Fleurette.

The only issue I had with Autosleeper curtains was that a few years ago they started fitting the track on inch long struts so it was just below the top of the screen and just in my eye line and in line for a very nasty slice of the forehead in an accident. I think I'm right in saying they've since gone back to the previous system of screwing the track direct to the cab, just above the screen and further out of harms way.

The Curtain track is fixed out of the way I don't even notice it.

Thanks for the replies, I have inner and outer silver screens and curtains BUT I think I would prefer the blinds.
I saw a MK6 at Malvern last week with just the front blind, it looked as if it was fitted by my 5yr old grandson. This is the reason I asked if anyone could take some pic's of some that were fitted properly.
