From today 23rd August Sky Sports News is no longer available on Freeview channel 83 but they have now included it on the Sky satellite EPG (channel 405) with ANY Sky subscription package (but not Freesat from Sky).

Previously you had to have the news package or premium sports package to receive it on the Sky EPG even though it was free on Freeview!

So, now no longer free anywhere (including Freesat).

The only thing I watched it for (on Freeview) was the football scores rolling though - normally saturday afternoon. Nowadays I have the beeb's final score via the red button - much nicer presenter !! Cool Rolling Eyes . Sky being tight again Sad

GOOD....!!!

The less I need to watch Sky for the better.
I'm happy to go the Freesat route for all our channels now.

Ray.

Hardly "good" and no one "needs" to watch anything they don't want to! However, although I have no torch for Sky as a commercial organisation their sports news coverage (particularly Saturday football) leaves BBC and ITV behind as embarrassments.

I agree. The Saturday show on Sky Sports News was excellent and i for one will really miss it.I don't go away to watch"telly"but i used to enjoy a couple of hours watching the scores come in whilst "The Boss"had fourty winks.

I find Jeff Stelling to be the most entertaining soccer news presenter of all, so this will be a serious setback in the saturday afternoon experience.

Yep, i'm never that bother if i have reception or not, but if it's winter and miserable cold and wet outside i find Stelling, Merse and Thomo very entertaining.

Surely Sky are shooting themselves in the foot. Sky Sports News on freeview is like a 24 hour commercial for there products and programs.... Isn't it ???

It proves one thing thou, That T*sser Murdoch only cares for money, and not for providing a public service to anyone for free !!!!

And what for the people who can't afford Sky ???

A petition should be started to highlight all the above, and give that company some bad publicity. To show them in there true light !!
