In the late Fifties I used to drive down to Goodwood, from NW London, to watch the BARC club meetings.
The handicap races used to be great fun where the fastest cars might start a lap or two behind the slower ones.
The theory was that if the handicapper had got it right all of the cars would cross the finish line at the same time!
Of course it never happened as many had "cheated" on their perfomance potential in the earlier races.

Unfortunately local "noise" complaints meant that regular racing stopped.

In the mid Fifties I went from NW London to Aintree in my 197cc Bond Minicar to watch the British Grand Prix. It was the one where the 3 Mercs took the first 3 places- Moss just winning from Fangio.

A weekend of adventure- the Bond broke down twice and got thumped by an Army lorry.
