Just ask for a quote with a cat 1 alarm and just a standard cat 2 immobiliser (cat 1 alarms cost from £200.00)

Our 2.4 is fitted by Ford with a motion sensor but it picks up movement near the cab so if you stay in the habitation part of the vehicle it may not go off. It is all described in the Ford drivers manual. Blipping the key twice automatically sets the deadlocks and alarm (and the bonnet alarm). Locking the drivers door with the key sets the bonnet alarm but not the internal so you can move around in the van peacefully.

I've since found out from the dealer that there is no alarm. It has an immobiliser and deadlocks of course but no audible alarm.

I can't be bothered fitting one either to be honest. It's almost impossible to steal because of the immobiliser and I have extra Fiamma Doorsafe locks on the habitation door and garage doors. I also have alarms on each window with flashing LEDs , which I hope will scare off most thieves.

I've found a decent insurance quote where they don't insist on an alarm so I think that my problem is solved.

Thanks to all for the advice.
