Hi Dougie
Very much appreciate your advice based on your experience.

Congrats on spotting this post was a year old! I wondered why all of a sudden I was getting responses.

Thanks again and enjoy your travels

Peter

Hi Peter,

It's my pleasure. I appreciate your noticing the COPS link too - it's still an amazing organisation, quietly providing care for the bereaved families which no-one else does.

Dougie.

It certainly does. Shame we have to rely on organisations such as that and Help for Heroes to support those whose loved ones have been prepared to stand in harms way!!

Have you enjoyed the delights of Highway 1 yet?

Yep. Officialdom says it doesn't have the resources <sigh>. Let's not go there...

Technically, yes - we were on it today where it runs near San Francisco, but not where I think you mean, on the Pacific coast. That will come on Wednesday when we leave SF & drive down to Half Moon Bay, then cross the mountains to San Jose. We had to cut Oregon out this half due to overstaying at Yellowstone, so missed the big drive south on Highway 1.

Dougie.

I should think so Dougie.
Route 1 from San Jose towards LA is quite hairy in a 40ft. with toad But possible as we have done it.
Did manage to find a state park campground to squeeze in only to find it said 32ft. max. But the sunset was to die for.

Don't forget Hearst Castle about half way down.

Now back to masking my location from the UK Lottery. I get the warning every time I access my account to buy any tickets.

Ray.

That's because you have to be actually in the UK to be able to buy a valid National Lottery ticket.

Taken from their FAQ

"Can I play while overseas?

No, to play UK National Lottery games online, you must be a resident of the UK or Isle of Man at all times. You must also be physically located in the UK or Isle of Man when buying a ticket or when setting up or amending a Direct Debit Account, including changing your numbers and payment details.

If you do not meet these requirements, any ticket purchases you make will be declared invalid and no prizes paid, and we will have the right to reclaim any prizes already paid under these circumstances."

So if you know the risks why do you want to play the UK lottery and not the Fench one?

Cos it was set up years ago when I was in UK with my UK address and bank account. It's a DD and automatic repayment into my bank.
Works very well so far and simple also I guess I don't like change.

There are too many things now that exclude people who are on the move. Lots of supplyers both in UK and other countries won't send 'abroad'. Many will and the world is a smaller place now.

Occasionally when I buy in UK or USA I have to get the item sent locally and then forwarded onto me or someone else at more expense and risk.

It's just annoying. Maybe it's just me although I doubt it.

Ray.
