Almost off topic - but slightly related .......
When Jane drives the van (and indeed my car) she gets a significantly worse consumption than I do, particularly in urban conditions. I had guessed it was probably because I was more gentle on acceleration.
Now I more sure ........ I have just checked and her car has a throttle stroke of 105mm whereas the van has only 38mm and my car 47 mm so I guess she is used to a certain throttle as being "normal" but when that is used on the van she probably has the pedal to the metal

Frank, are your consumption figures based on "brim-to-brim"?
In my experience fuel computer inaccuracies on most vehicles are about the same as the distance errors - which makes the fuel metering accuracy very good

Mine is based on"brim-to-brim" But I bare in mind that unless you use the same filling station/ pump you could end up with a slight air lock in the tank due to the ground level.
Regarding Fuel consumption Since upgrade is much better 2-3 mpg at motor-way speeds running around hear in Spain dash computer said 38.6 mpg average on the last tank full 546 miles working out myself I made it 34.79mpg
So I am very happy with the Fuel consumption mind you ours is van conversion not much front overhang .

No not necessarily always brim to brim but I record all the fuel in and the mileages and MHF works it out. So its a long term average.
As it happens the last filling was to the brim.
Note although speeds over-read on an odometer, mileages are more accurate.

Just to clarify there are two types of 140 bhp transit there is the front wheel drive 2.2 140 bhp and there is the rear wheel drive 2.4 140 bhp version i have the rear wheel drive version and it is a very nice drive and tackles all but the very steepest of gradients in 6th gear, at an indicated 70 mph the rpm is 2800 it is very quite and smooth and will drop down to 35 mph in 6th and still pull without signs of a struggle but i have noticed that members with the smaller capacity engine with the same bhp are getting 3 or 4 mpg more than me although i always travel near to the max 3850kgs. in any case im very happy with it.
Although my average has only moved up a tad to 29.2 MPG my last two full to the brim have been 31.8 and 29.8 so going in the right way,
Why the 2MPG difference .... well Doreen has been driving and she has a heavy foot
