Anybody got a Lunar Newstar thinking about buying or Compass Avantegarde 200. The Lunar little bit more expensive but quality seems a little bit better. Anybody got any comments on either motorhome would be welcome. We currrently own a Auto-sleeper Legend would not like to part with it, but wish to tour Europe next year so would like something a little bigger. Or does anyone know of something in the same price range with rear lounge.

The compass avangarde whilst quite a nice little van, particularly if you have a special edition is not in the same league as your legend and also a lot smaller
The larger Lunar Roadstars are nice vans quite well built, but the smaller ones are budget types like the Avantgarde. The 600 and 700s are on a par with the Legend in my opinion from what I have seen

We had a brand new Compass Avantgarde 400 and before buying, we did compare with the Newstar. In my opinion, the Newstar is definately better built. It was a bit out of our budget at the time and we bought the Compass. Don't get me wrong, we had a great 6 months with it, but the design is rather dated and the quality of fittings is not as good as the Newstar. The show season is underway now, so if I were you I would go along and do a proper comparison.

I'd tend to agree with the above - our Avantgarde 200 is excellent, although I'd say the build quality is not so good as the less "budget" end models. That said, we're very happy with ours, and with no kids around to wear it out, it'll do us for a while.
