I must point out that nobody was hurt (surprisingly) in this incident.
Sat in my motorhome on Tuesday morning at a site in West Wales enjoying my morning cuppa, taking things easy after our first night away since entering the world of motorhoming.
Watching the touring caravan’s hitching up and driving off when a nearby family hitched their caravan, (I should point out at this stage both the car and caravan were getting on in years), when finished they proceeded at a slow pace, caravan dutifully following the car to head down towards the shower/toilet block before having to turn right to exit the site, all was going well until they turned right or at least the car did the caravan had other idea’s, it unhitched itself and carried on under it’s own momentum careering into the shower/toilet block, and coming to rest against the wall.
After checking the caravan with the help of many people who came running out to see what all the commotion was (I decided at this point not to render my services as there were at least 10 people there to help) they hitched back up and drove away, I must admit to finding this amusing after seeing that nobody was hurt, only the poor man’s pride who was towing this caravan.
It could have been a lot more serious had the children who often played by the shower/toilet block been out, but thankfully none were around.
I suppose there is a moral to this tale and that is, always make sure when exiting the toilets that you have made sure you have been, because if I was leaving said toilet and had not and was faced with a runaway caravan, I think I might just have needed a change of underwear.
