Hi,
I was wondering how you inflate the inner rear tyres on vehicles which have twin wheels on each side of a single axle (such as the Merc 416)? Are they difficult to access?

Hello there,

Your not Kidding difficult.

I have the exact same problem (Merc 416) I got some valve extenders from my daughters boyfriend as they are like dobby horse elsewhere.

They have been sat in my cab for 4 months and this morning I decided to fit them as accessing normal valves is a nightmare.

Slide under the van, you need to remove the existing dust cap with some long nose pliers (unless you have alien fingers). Push the flexi valve extenders through the outer wheel and guide it onto the inner valve with your hand. Tighten with long nose pliers.

I would recommend the flexible type over the rigid

1> U shaped metal valves are available lorries use them.
2. The correct double ended tyre inflater (for twin wheels) makes it a doddle
