Do I take that those of you who have purchased a motorhome visited the dealer - if so did they drop the price from that originally offered.

Also what were the major points that may have created problems - now after having looked. The proposition of buying abroad seems to appeal especially financially - no doubt I have a lot of work to do though.

Primarily looking at Hymers though must admit the Hobby has taken my eye as well - looking at and comparing prices even adding a few additional cents to the exchange rates still gives some amazing value. Going second hand on this though.

Will look at Daves review as previously advised - once I can uninstall it after downloading which it refused to do earlier today.

Oh! now going upwardly mobile from a tent........ Ever put one up on a wet windly night lol - motorhomes should be bliss lol.

I bought my M/H privately from an advert in the MMM, I saw the advert on the Thursday, went to Stoke on the Friday, saw it and settled on it on the Saturday, paid for it and picked it up on the Monday and my son came up and drove it back on the Wednesday, I am more than happy with it and estimate a saving between 3 and 4K. I did have the advantage of an engineering background and a good knowledge of caravan construction which must have come in handy, as there are no real guarantees when buying privately.

If you have the knowledge to do it this way you can save money, if you don’t, then go to a good dealer, pay the market price and get the guarantees you may need them.

No, camping was not my game, the last time I slept in a tent was in the far east whilst in the services, and even then did not put one up in the wind, However I once saw a couple try to pitch a tent at night on the cliff top caravan site at Thurso (northern most tip of Scotland) in a near hurricane blowing off the north sea, it was an impossible job so all we could do was keep them fed with hot drinks.
