Why are some of my PMs stuck in the outbox?

Just had a quick gander at the outbox for my private messages and there's a logjam of about four or five of the blighters just stuck there - evidently unsent, despite me having submitted them.

Anyone any idea how to send them on from there - or why this happens?

You have to understand I'm stupid when you answer this probably foolish question!
