Well this forum never ceases to amaze me...

Had an incredible success today after (King) Wiggy suggested I try this motorhome dealership in Wolverhampton to get a highly rare pigtail for a 30mbar German regulator to accept UK gas cylinders.

I decided to get down there - quite a journey - because we wanted to pick up a few bits and bobs from Towsure which ain't too far away.

Anyway we drove into this place, which you can see from about a mile away, and the sight almost stopped us in our tracks.

Lines of the most expensive motorhomes - mansions on wheels - stood gleaming in front of us, their price boards awash with zeroes covering the quite substantial windscreen space.

I gulped down my pride at asking for some help with a Rimor van, walked in and explained the situation to the guy inside, saying a very good man from motorhomefacts.com had bought a Eura Mobil there last year, and his regulator was not dissimilar to mine.

When the guy disappeared like a flash I assumed that even talking to me would be too much hassle.

But two minutes later he was back, and produced a pigtail which he proceeded to fit to my regulator!

Now I've spent the best part of two days hunting down the right information for this pigtail. I had no luck at all until today, and was starting to get a bit annoyed to be honest.

I handed over a tenner and the job was done!

Thanks EVERYONE for all your help - particularly Wiggy, without who I'd still be wearing down a bare square of carpet conspiring to find a solution to my dilemma! And SteveC, who has just been an absolute star.

And it got me thinking - we should have annual awards on this site for members who go out of their way to help. I'm a member of another forum where you have things like Most Helpful Member, Funniest Post, Pin Up (may or may not work here, depending on taste!) and so on.

You guys - you're all geniuses.

I'll leave some bandwidth spare for you now.

One happy bunny!

I've been [u:700b134f14]very[/u:700b134f14] impressed with the level of help and enthusiasm that I've found on this site.

But for me, one name stands out as the most prolific 'helper' and that's Steve, Averywildwildcamper. He's put in a lot of time and effort helping us here, so he's got my vote for most helpful/knowledgeable.

Me? I'm going for the "Pin-up Award"!

Ooooh, Sweetie!!

Barry

Oh yes, this is what motorhoming is all about,

Long may the freindly banter on this site continue,

Wiggy says,
I believe in treating people as you wish to be treated yourself - and the world is too full of miserable unhelpfull people but none of them drive a motorcaravan !!

Me, i'm up for Sexy Hunk of the year....

Pete

There really are a whole bunch of diamond geezers on here, way too many to mention. The hall of fame should include everyone who has posted, since we all have experiences to share and there's always knowledge to glean.

I often wonder whether this place should be adopted by the Caravan Club or something as their sort of surrogate forum. You won't find better or more informative ideas anywhere else, I tell you that for sure.

hi stormy, i agree wholeheartedly with your first paragraph, but would not like to see the second come about.
reasons - mainly this forum although built and maintained by dave hal and friends, is 'owned' Wink by the users who log in and contribute - it's big advantage is that it's relaxed and friendly- i may use cc sites but ...
have you read their letters page recently ??
call me paranoid - [or even deep purple Wink ] but there are enough forums for tuggers- it's nice to have a forum just for mhomers brave

Cool

Hear, hear, Twooks. Let's keep this to just us.

I urge you all to look at the posts on "Rallies", where Carol is trying to drum support for a meeting at a pub on Exmoor. On a wider note, I've suggested that we try to obtain, say, half a dozen venues like this, spread round the country, where we can have informal meets (I'm loathe to call them Rallies) on dates throughout the year arranged beforehand, where any of us can just show up and meet anyone else who just shows up. And talk the same kind of talk that we do here, but round a barbecue, or in a bar.

Please give your thoughts on this, either on General Chit Chat or the Rallies Forum.

And support Carol's efforts if you're able.

Barry
