Hi All,
we are about to head off for an extended trip around Europe, France, Italy, Spain etc. Done the usual research, got all the books, joined a few clubs etc. Having never done this before, we're beginning to get a bit nervous. Probably the most important thing is campsites. Anyone recommend a good area to start off from? Leaving early June. We've got an American RV and have read all the chat about size etc. What I'm looking for is any recommended spots for a longish stay, in a big ol' RV.
Thanks for any help
J

Hi J

Ten years ago before the interent was mainstream and you could find out about all this sort of thing we headed off to France without a plan but a yearning to wilf camp. We had only seen mentions (hush hush) about it in magazines.

On arriving in France we spotted a MH with English number plates. We headed over and within minutes was settling into the required glass of red wine chatting to Jack and Joyce. They must have each been over 70 and had spent the last 265 nights wildcamping all over Spain, Portugal and France.

We then spent three glorious weeks wildcamping all down the coast of France. On one occassion we did drive into a campsite but it was so cramped we eased our way out again and found a lovely spot on the beach again.

Hi Artona, thanks for the reply
Wild camping is something we might consider after building up our experience on the road. Being total newbies at this, we would prefer to do campsites/aires all the way until we are confident of the wild camping side of things. This might take a couple of weeks or 6 months, we just dont know until we go! What I really want to know is how easy it is to roll up at a campsite and stay for a couple of weeks. Also with intending to stay out for a long time, I dont really want to move every couple of nights, which is the impression I get with wild camping.

Thanks again for the reply

Hi Felixcolor the campsite I would recommend down this way is Rincon de luna just a little inland from guardamar which is half way between alicante and la-manga many UK foks winter there it is clean and costs a little less than those right on the coast, there is ample room for RV's PM me if you want more details ie tel no, map etc.
