Hi Jim

Nice pics. Has the camera got a built in flash? If so although you were outdoors it might have been worth using it to give a bit of fill light. With the sun being quite high when you took them - was it mid dayish, chaz's eyes have become black areas. Portraits are all about the eyes.

The camera might be able to work out that since you are on auto or program it should set the flash for fill in rather than main source. If not you could try a piece of white card and get your sexy assistant photographer to hold it infront of the subject - not always easy with candids. Sorry to offer unrequested tips, just thought it might help

Hi Stew

Yeah, it has built in flash and they were taken as you describe, she was actually jumping up and down on a trampoline Laughing

Constructive comments are always welcome, thank you, fill in flash would have helped but it was the first trial and I was just getting to grips with it..

Thanks for the tips ..watch this space Wink

Im looking for a sexy assistant ..

Now you have to work out which is cheapest when you've added in the extras. Sad

I finally took the plunge for a new camera but decided at my age I couldn't justify the outlay the Nikon entailed.
After a lot of soul searching I opted for the Panasonic DMC-FZ7. 12X zoom with v good reports and optical stabiliser.

Got it just before we went on holiday in April so that was try out time.
Up to now I'm delighted with the results but have a long way to go before I've mastered all its modes!
Here is a sample pic taken from at least 50 yards:

Hi Gillian

Lovely picture, the quality of the camera and lens is very apparent, I'm glad you pleased with your purchase.
I bought the Nikon as my son is also very keen and I thought it would be a good camera for him to build on, he was talking about doing a photography course which I'm keen to encourage, a hobby that may turn into a career...
Happy shooting, looking forward to more shots from your travels..
