we're looking to hopefully own a motorhome in the not to distant future and are at present researching as much as we can. Could anyone give advice on Burstner(A class or low profile) Bessacarr(E760) or Kontikki(660) models. Also, which is the best heating, Trauma or Alde ? We would really appreciate any help. Question

Hi there angie and welcome,

I have no experience with the vans you talk of so can't give advice there but i'm sure someone will soon.
As regards heating, we have had truma heating fitted to several vans, the only problems we have had is a noisy front panel which screaches/rattles as you go along, easily sorted by bending the grille though. Otherwise they have always been reliable and throw out good heat. The alde system is whats called a 'wet' system with mini radiators located around the van, much like central heating at home, this would be particularly suitable if you plan to do a lot of winter camping as its very efficient. Not sure if its fitted to many m/homes though, because its expensive. Last model i recall having it fitted was the knaus a class a few years back.

Hi Angie , welcome to the site Very Happy

Can't help with the choice of van but would agree with peejay, the Truma is a great heater, reliable and efficient. I have winter camped in Scotland and found it more than competant to cope with cold weather. Also supplies plenty of hot water for showering.

I understand that the boiler in the Burstner (with wet system)dumps the water if the temp gets to low, so it begs the question what happens to the heating? I suppose there could be a manual override.

The other thing is I believe the heating can be used whilst mobile, with a large vehicle that’s handy.
