we have just purchased our very first motorhome (used) the interior fabrics are a touch too light to stand up to the rigors of two children and a dog, so does anyone know of any where i can get them recovered in scotland and is it expensive

Hi carolgavin

Welcome to this very useful and friendly site.

Congratulations on your new status as an owner! Enjoy it to the full and I hope you have very many miles of trouble free travelling.

Can't help with information on places in Scotland to re-cover you upholstery. Have you considered loose covers? Perhaps even 2 sets in the right material to be able to change and wash them after so many journeys.

Got to be honest - when faced with a similar problem in both Caravan and M/H (but no dog admittedly) we (royal - I had nothing to do with it) went the changing rooms route and just loose covered - they were not attached at all.

Advantage being we could swap, air and wash at will, disadvantage - well they are loose covers and well of course you do have to put them back straight most days.

Good luck

Hi,
We have two dogs and the same problem as yourselves. I bought some cheap cotton throws which we use to cover the seats, they can be bought anywhere and thrown into the wash tub when mucky.
What is more of as problem is fixed carpets, why do they do that!
I cover mine with at the moment with rubber backed bathroom carpet from B & Q but it creeps during use!
Regards Malc Smile

Hi,

The loose covers sound a good idea.

I don’t know where you can get them covered, however here is a link to a chap on the self builders motor caravan club site who is selling some material

Been there Very Happy

Do be aware when getting prices, they trade under several names, but all at the same address!
