Hi all,

Has anyone ever performed the relatively simple task (I think) of removing the door trim on a Fiat Ducato. The reason - I bought a door pocket for the passenger door of our m/h and I thought the fittings for the 4 screws would have been in place....... but, apparently not.

The pocket came from a salvage yard and I won't be able to contact them until late this evening (part time hours). I need to know if the usual fir tree type fittings are easily retained or like others in the past, break at the slightest hint of removal.

Hi Keng.

We fitted a pocket to our passenger door a while back, we bought it from a Fiat dealer and if i remember correctly the retaining bolts were bought as a seperate part (X4) so you should be able to order them from your dealer. They are the push fit type and fit behind the door panel in pre drilled holes, then make holes in the panel for the screws to fit through.

Removing the panel is awkward as you thought, the best way i found to do it without breaking the little plastic clips is to slide a couple of knives either side of the clip then pull. If you just pull the door panel they will rip out from the hardboard behind. Another thing i did while the panels were off is to upholster them, makes it look more 'part'of the conversion.

I fitted the door pocket from a Fiat Panda to the seat box, very simple and can be used by driver and passenger. An alternate idea from magic42

Sorry for late response guys, busy day. Peejay, your tip about the knives got me thinking and I used a couple of narrow, decorating, filling knives to ease the trim up, then used a home-made tool I had from previous car job.

Have to wait now to end of week for the Fiat main dealer to order the 4 inserts @ 25p each.

Nice one magic42. I've been looking at the seat box now for a couple of weeks thinking of attaching first aid box, maglite, extra fire extinguisher etc. (not necessarily all at once of course Laughing

)
