……it doesn't matter how thorough you are when packing the 'van, 5 minutes after setting off there will be an annoying rattle coming from the back that needs sorting?
……when you're lost and stop for directions, you always get the village idiot first, then when you've found someone, they give you the directions required and as soon as you pull of you forget what they've said?
……I spent ages designing a state of the art flip-top waste bin for the kitchen, but still use the old asda carrier bag draped over the oven door?
……there are so many Status omni-aerials fitted to thousands of 'vans and caravans but none of them work?
……the gas always runs out at 2 o'clock in the morning and it's chucking it down outside?
……the green fridge light is difficult to see during the day, but dazzles you like a 500w searchlight at night in bed?
……motorhome water pumps have to be so bloomin' noisy?
……when you find a lovely quiet CL, park right at the end of the field on your own and 10 minutes later someone comes and pitches next to you?
……when you light a BBQ it doesn't matter where you stand, the smoke will still get you!
……Caravan club staff always remind me of the Army?
And on the continent, why is it that……
……you can be traveling along a long straight empty road with loads of overtaking places, but the French man behind will sit within a foot of your rear bumper for at least 10 miles before overtaking.
……It doesn't matter where you are in France, there's always a signpost for Paris to throw your navigational skills into confusion.
……when arriving at an autoroute tollbooth, the ticket always pops out at the top of the machine making it nearly impossible to reach.
……then, when arriving at the pay booth, the driver in front never has any change and takes ages to pay.
......and then, next time you arrive at the booth, your passenger positions to take the ticket from the top and it pops out at the bottom!
......you're never quite sure if you're in the male or female side when using continental ablutions?
......when going through customs at Dover, they ALWAYS pull us over for a 'random' check?
has anyone else got any observations?
happy travels,
pete.

haha... yeah what a pain......
The little control panel for our van is just over the bed and can have as many as three LED's on and it's surprising how bright they are. I've started sticking little bits of black insulation tape over them at night.

Perhaps The Pollyvan is not quite up to spec but I really miss the fridge interior light 'cos I wake up at sparrow f**t and want to make a coffee when van is pitch dark

I have a wonderful recessed wood paneled bin and still use the plastic bags.
I think I got to know most of the customs officers a few years back when I had to go to Lille every two weeks.
