There was an in-line Carver cartridge (30 day) water filter fitted when I bought our m/h. We only use bottled water for drinking and a dealer was charging £25 for a replacement filter.
My plan was to remove filter and extend a small section of pipe with straight connectors, BUT, could I leave the filter in place as the tank water will only be used for washing up at the kitchen sink.
I have researched to a certain extent and it seems that a far more extensive water purification system is necessary than is provided for with this type of filter. It basically improves taste and smell, nothing more. |

I use water direct from my tank but purify with"Elsil" no taste and no adverse effects, and can leave water in tank for prolonged periods.

Below is a copy of my original posting March 27th
------------------------
"One of my big pet hates is the smell of bleach, no matter how faint, it gets right up my nose!!!!! I was talking to my nephew a year ago and he mentioned a product called “Elsil” made by the well known firm of elsan that left no taste in the water. I’m a very sceptical person, however I tried it and I must admit he told the truth, I have ordered it on two occasions at £6.65 for 100ml inc P.P.
The company told me this is the same product they supply to the major airlines. Their phone number is 01825 748200.
I hope this may be of help to someone. "
------------------------
This was for cleaning the tank, the same product is used in smaller doses in the drinking water, it realy is good.
I hope this is of some help

Thanks Ken S for the info. I must say that 'drinkability' isn't such an issue as we always use bottled, but I had been giving some thought to the purification problem as we'll be using sites for about a week at a time on our main hols.
I definitely consider Milton to be a very effective cleaning/sterilizing product, just can't see me wanting to do it at every fill - so your recommendation will figure highly on my list of options . |
