I am based in Brussels, having just retired from working for a Japanese company for the past 23 years, in the UK, Germany and laterly in Brussels. I am English, and I suppose after last night's football against France confirms that I remain a supreme optimist!!!!!!!!
I first became involved in motor caravanning in the '60's! Indeed, I was one of the first members of the Motor Caravan Club at the time.
We built our own van then and based it on a Commer van. In those days you saved the purchase tax if you converted because the Government were able to commandeer the vehicle in times of war for military use! Never happened of course, but we still saved the PT!
Then, because of career and moving around, motor caravanning sort of fell by the wayside and went into sleep mode, although for years I still bought all the mh magazines every month - how sad!
So, whilst I have retired from full-time employment I am still gainfully employed as a Consultant in my field of expertise, and also now have the free time to enjoy. As a consequence of this I am now considering to re-join the ranks of the motor caravanner.
I have been researching for the past year the options available on the market and I have decided on a coachbuilt model. More specifically, one of the Hymer S-Class models. I intend to visit the Duesseldorf caravan show in August, and make my final decision after the visit.
Have any of you guys any experiences with the late model S-class, from 2001 onwards? If you have any comments on these and/or suggestions for any similar alternatives, they will be most gratefully received.
Looking forward to your replies and meeting many of you when I am travelling!
regards
Andrew G Britts
